St. Clair County Routes C & ZZ Bridge Rehabilitation Over Truman Lake

St. Clair County – The St. Clair County Route C bridge over Truman Lake east of Lowry City will CLOSE the week of March 1 when work begins to rehabilitate the bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Contractor crews will remove the bridge deck (driving surface) and replace it with a new surface. Additionally, new guardrail will be installed at either end of the bridge along with replacing bridge joints and repairing barrier wall.

Once work begins, the contractor will have 167 days to complete the project, meaning the bridge should reopen to traffic by early August.

Traffic Impacts:

Both lanes of Route C CLOSED to traffic beginning the week of March 1
Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the bridge, but will not be able to cross the bridge during this project
Drivers will be directed around the work zone along a signed detour using Routes Z, NN and C
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone
The bridge was built in 1974 and carries approximately 430 vehicles per day.

A second bridge on St. Clair County Route ZZ also is part of this contract. Work to replace the driving surface of that bridge was completed in the fall of 2020.

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
